As you may have noticed from previous posts, one of Morning Edit is in the process of doing up a nursery. Having pretty much settled on the overall decor I’m now looking for artwork and I HAVE to HAVE this vintage ABC poster by byGraziela. The poster was originally designed by Graziela Preiser in 1972 but still holds up as a design classic today:

I had been aware of the poster for some time but have to admit to being clueless about the vast array of other items available from the company. Having decided on a Scandinavian vibe for the nursery I chose the penguin wallpaper by Isak for a feature wall. In blue. For a girl. Something currently making my family very nervous…But hey, who says girls rooms have to be pink?

I want the room to have a really bright, fun feel with a Scandinavian flavour and I think as long as everything else is as colourful as possible I’ll get away with the wallpaper. And that is where byGraziela excel – colourful, bright, playful childrens decor with a few ‘grown up’ homewares thrown in for good measure. The website really is a delight – a treasure trove of well designed, fun items with a vintage feel.

Graziela Preiser’s designs were hugely popular in the 1970’s with hardly andy homes in Germany without at least one item designed by her. Now the designs are available again, revived by a team formed of Graziela herself and her daughter, Nina. Despite the designs being over forty years old and having an undeniable retro feel, they still somehow look really fresh and modern. And that poster is just perfect for my nursery…
